In phone dialer, dial:

You get options like:
- Phone information
- Battery information
- Battery history
- Usage statistics

In Phone information you get to view many internal settings of the phone, like network status/report and signal ref, and you can also set some no so often needed internal settings like SMSC, GSM/WCDMA switch etc.

In Battery information you get to view your battery info.

In Battery history you can see usage in CPU/Network, GPS, Sensor, Partial wake usage and Other usage (like the info you saw in settings battery usage)

In Usage statistics you can view info of usage like App used time, Launch count etc.

Not that much useful for now, but good to keep a reference.

While I am on the way to the pier, I was trying to get the timetable of the ferry from Central to Sok Kwu Wan, Lamma Island, after a quick Google search I got some link and the official website of the ferry company....

Most of the links from the results return a 404 error and seems the official site has changed their site layout.. (I find that they changed the layout on Dec 2009, they mention it on their page)

So I go to the official site then....

Instead of a simple welcome page all I got was a big Flash missing icon shown on the Webkit base browser, there is no skip nor other ways of getting into their page....(There is a Skip button, but the button is INSIDE the Flash, well..)

For all Flash content developer out there:
At least add a text hyperlink on your site for user to skip the "So very nice animation(s)" you made, you just cannot expect everyone to go thru your Flash movie before getting to the content!

And the other thing is: As an official website, redirect your old pages is always a good idea, at least a better 404 page redirecting users to main page instead of ugly default Apache error page, please you get paid for your work, don't be so lazy!

P.S: Oh yes, please DO NOT make everything a PDF, you can add a link for user who wants to download it, but NOT the only way to get the info, why 56KB of PDF instead of 2K HTML?

The update 2.0.1 which report speed up, camera focus bug fix and better battery performance has been released by Motorola.

What's noticed after the updated:
- Camera loose focus 29 days bug fixed.
- Response seems smoother on App switch and scrolling.
- Icon of Music app has changed, and bug fix to cover image corrupt bug has been fixed.
- Lock screen changed (Minor)
- Added Setting as "Audio Effects" for tweak settings with wired headphone and build-in speakers.
- Battery life extend ion has to be tested.

Please keep in mind if you want root, please wait, this is an officials update which will keep your milestone to "unroot" until hack is found.

And good thing here is no master reset has to be done on the update, means you do not need to reinstall everything AGAIN, seems 0.1 version is a bug fix minor update there.

Update has to be done on PC side, not OTA, link at:

Click click click as screen prompt will do.

There are reports that device purchase after Jan 2010 cannot update, since the update software check IMEI number and seems some of the IMEI are not in the upgrade list there, my device was purchased on 27 Dec 2009 OP Free from Citilink Mobile store, and I do not have problem on the upgrade.

Update:
Upgrade without problem, the only catch is I loose root, well I can wait on that with the promise speed improve and CAM bug fix.

The following are the screen shots.
P.S: My system locate was set to HK does not means that I want Chinese UI, I really think programmer should let me choose.
P.P.S: Upgrade was smooth and took about 20 mins, good good.
P.P.P.S: Tested for about 30 mins during lunch break, it sure is smoother than 2.0, updated bug fix section above.

EULA, agree, what option do I have here?

Yeah, the tool chain is just great, took only like 3 mins to do the root.

1/: Download the file update.zip update.zip (30MB mediafire)
2/: place the file to root of sdcard
3/: boot the phone in recovery mode, first switch off the phone, power on by holding Camera AND Power Button, Hold until you see a screen of a ! with phone icon.
4/: Release Cam AND Vol button, now tricky part, try press Volume + button and Cam button together (tricky to do, as it must be press at a same time, you can take your time to try until it works), a Recovery Menu will be shown.
5/: Using Keyboard Up Dn to select update.zip, and center to confirm update, it should take like a minute or less, after that it will shown done.
6/: Reboot your phone by select reboot in recovery menu, done done.

For the one who have no idea why root, please see Wiki Android - Why Root.

Now we are waiting cooked ROM for 2.0.1 and 2.1...

On 21 of Dec, I went to a few electronics chain store and ask for it, and seems no one has any stock left, and even no shop offer preorder with a firm collecton date.

In the next few days, whenever I walk thru a store, I get in and ask...and seems answer was almost the same, some shops even sells at higher than suggest retail price (SRP), the below was a summary of the search:

Broadway 百老匯:
First shop I went to ask, on 21 Dec only a few store has dummy displayed, listed at $4680 which is the SRP, staff was ok to tell me that it was out of stock (they only has a few unit that day anyway) and there is no expected shipping day on pre-order, one staff was nice enough to advise me to give it a wait which price should reduced in some time, thanks for your advise, but since it is gadget buying, if I can wait I don't need it anymore right?

P.S: (I was reported by mates that some Broadway store listed the price to $4980 instead of the SRP, well.....)

Fortress 豐澤:
I went to Fortress for quite a few times during the search, different locations different store (5~6 of them), Listed $4680, and never seen 1 store in stock, salesman are rude, impolite and ignorance, very unhappy experience, will blacklist forever on buying mobile products from this company.
I do normally liked the services from Fortress on their home electronics, staff were nice and helpful, but I have no idea why their staff in mobile product were so bad, they really should look into it on the issue, if mobile products are not their interest, close it down, those staff really hurt the image and reputation of the company!

It was 27 Dec late afternoon, it was rainy and I went in, saw displayed dummy unit then I ask, staff was nice to tell me that it is out of stock right now, but if I can wait 1~2 hours they will restock, then I start to ask about their 24 months installment policy and so on, staff was nice enough to offer me tissue to dry out my cloths and glasses while explianing to me the policy,
Honest, I was sold to this service instead of other things, price was above SRP at $48xx, but the warm caring to customer did touched me.. (of coz, 24 months installment)
After appox. 80mins, I was with the Milestone on hand...

Conclusion:
I understand mobile selling biz is a hard biz, it changes too fast, margin were small, need to met sales target, rent are high (chomped 1000 reasons), but I learn one thing in my search:

How hard is it to serve customers just a little bit better?
Instead of a plain quick heartless answer of: NO! then turned away (it did happened in a few store, especially Fortress 豐澤, when I ask about preorder timeframe and the staff even gave me a Fxxk face and answer me: Don't know! which they were too busy group chitchat-ing! Oh sorry it was my fault to pause that funny chat you guys were having...)

How hard was it to say: Oh sorry, this item is out of stock and offer some other help or even suggestion? (Broadway, 中原電器 did that)

Or even a warm caring to your customers like Citylink 領域 did? how much did that cost? a million?

Anyway, ++ Thumbs up to Citylink, I do enjoy your serve, yes I really do!

The UI of GoogleReader was way too complex to be displayed on a 7inch UMPC.

Many forums/discussion groups:
Many of these forums developed code to prevent extra bandwidth loading on IMGs, so javascript was used to do so, example, users have to click on the IMG to load it.

Many download sites:
I hate it on how some site developed stupid code for user to download a file, example, count down on time counter, funny/stupid javascript calls to hide/dynamic gen URL, all I want is a direct link to the file....

Here comes the cure, GreaseMonkey Addon, which allows developer to change how pages are render, or even add functions and automation.

Record breaking, at least 40 phone calls in 24 hours, this customer keeps on calling for NOTHING, she haven't even register our service yet, question 1 at a time, repeat and repeat all the time, she was already told it will take "up to" 1 working day to process her order at the first 3 calls, but keep on calling to question why it has not been process yet for at least 4 times.

Customer X+1:
Good logic, better then I do, this customer was calling in query about our "referral program", he has 2 accounts, A refer B and get the 10% referral bonus, and now he wants to add the referral back to A, so he get EXTRA referral bonus (A 10% and B 10% and so on), I tried my best to explain him the policy and it simply does not make sense for this "looping" referral idea, while he called at least 4 times with different lame excuses to see are there any staff that would miss and give him the free ride.

Customer X+2:
As I posted very earlier, if you do not know something, be nice and learn, this customer call in, claims that she is new to the company and do not have any computer knowledge, she wants the domain control but she do not have any information on hand that match the register information (excuses: She is new and do not know who did the register), once I denied on the request without a Biz Register copy, she starts b*tching and wants to file a complain, oh yeah? what does she expect me to do? hand a domain control over to someone who cannot even match 1 single register info out of 10?
